About the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis
Our Mission To help families afford housing by working with member financial institutions located in Indiana and
Michigan to meet their funding needs for both residential mortgage loans and loans to support the economic growth of
their communities. The FHLBI also provides grants for building and rehabilitating low-income housing. The FHLBI expects
to deliver a market return on the equity investment by its member/owner institutions.
The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is a wholesale bank that provides loans, grants, and business services to
member financial institutions in Indiana and Michigan. We are one of twelve such banks in the Federal Home Loan Bank
System established in 1932. FHLBanks are privately capitalized and funded, and receive no Congressional appropriations.
Our credit programs provide funding to help members with liquidity and asset/liability management, interest rate risk,
profitability enhancement, and mortgage pipeline funding. In addition to funding, we provide various correspondent
services, such as securities safekeeping and wire transfers. The FHLBI also helps to meet the economic and housing needs
of communities and families through grants and low-cost advances that help support affordable housing and economic
development initiatives.
