What is Member Link?

The Federal Home Loan Bank Member Link brings the Bank's products and services to your desktop computer through the world wide web.

Member Link is your centralized, on-line link to the Bank's resources. With Member Link you view your account balances and activity, keep up-to-date on current events shaping the banking industry, learn more about technology and banking through on-line training, view real-time advance rate information, use a model to analyze your financial situation, and submit selected business transactions.

Member Link, however, is not targeted to replace communications with Bank staff. In fact, our E-mail package and bulletin board package will improve the opportunities for direct communications with the appropriate contacts at the Bank.

Member Link is a door to the future. As Member Link evolves, we believe this door will open more opportunities to improve customer service and customer relationships.

Navigation

On each of the main pages of Member Link, you can jump to another main section using the links on the left side of the page (the contents of each main section are described above).

Most pages are set up with additional navigational links on the left side of the page. These links will sometimes take you to a particular location on the same page and sometimes take you to a new page for more detail on the topic you are investigating.

When you are in a particular section but not on the main page for that section, the quick links on the left will take you back one level or back to the main page of the section that you are currently in. Then you can access other main sections as described in the first paragraph on navigation.

Using your browser

A browser is the software running on your computer that you use to access Member Link and to "surf" to other sites on the world wide web.

To access a page on the world wide web, you need to know the address (also called URL) of the page you want to access. Enter the address in the address text box and press the enter key to go to the desired page. If you need help in finding a particular page, you can use a search engine to assist you. A search engine is like a library of web sites. It has searched and catalogued web sites for you. For a list of search engines, click here.

Hyperlinks - Hyperlinks allow you to go from page to page in a pre-determined fashion by pointing and clicking the mouse on a highlighted text or image. To learn more about hyperlinks, click on the highlighted hyperlink at the beginning of the paragraph.

Scrolling - One of the most important elements on your browser is the scroll bar, found on the far right of the browser. If you are familiar with Windows, the function of the scroll bar is obvious. In Member Link, the navigational links are stored at the top of the page. If you don't see these links, check the scroll bar and move to the top of the page.

Browser controls - Click here to learn more about BACK, FORWARD, and other browser buttons and controls.

Bookmarks, favorites, and shortcuts - These browser features allow you to get to pages you have selected directly rather than following the links set up for you be the content providers. For example, if the rates page is important to you, you can have your browser bookmark the page and then use the bookmark to go directly to that page whenever you want. For instructions on setting up a bookmark, use the help function on your browser.

Cookies – To access the secure portions of Member Link you need to set up your browser to accept cookies. A cookie is a piece of information stored in the memory of your PC or stored on your hard drive that contains information used by the web site you are accessing. Information in the cookie is used to help the web site you are accessing to determine how you have interacted with it previously. Cookies do not represent any threat to security because of the limitations placed on them by the web browser software.
