The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is a regional wholesale bank that has been meeting the liquidity needs of member financial institutions throughout Indiana and Michigan since 1932.

Our Mission

Our core mission is to provide a reliable source of liquidity to member banks, credit unions, community development financial institutions and insurance companies to support housing finance, asset-liability management and community lending. We also help communities and families through grants and low-cost loans to our members that help support affordable housing and economic development initiatives.

Privately Capitalized and Funded

FHLBank Indianapolis is one of 11 regional banks that make up the Federal Home Loan Bank System. FHLBanks are government-sponsored enterprises created by Congress to ensure access to low-cost funding for their member financial institutions. FHLBanks are privately capitalized and funded, and receive no Congressional appropriations. The Bank is owned by its approximately 400 Indiana and Michigan financial institution members. Public Announcements FHLBank Indianapolis appoints New Castle banker in special election FHLBank Indianapolis is pleased to announce a vacant Board of Directors seat was filled during the Board's recent 2024 special election. J. Daniel Maddox, chairman of the board and CEO of Citizens State Bank in New Castle, Ind., will fill an unexpired term from April 1, 2024, to Dec. 31, 2025.

Public Announcements Office of Finance files 2023 CFR for FHLBanks The Office of Finance has published the 2023 Combined Financial Report (CFR) of the Federal Home Loan Banks (FHLBanks). Each FHLBank — including FHLBank Indianapolis — has filed its Q4 2023 Form 10-Q with the SEC.

Member Announcements FHLBank Indianapolis announces fourth quarter 2023 dividends, reports earnings On Feb. 22, 2024, the Board of Directors of the Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis declared its fourth quarter 2023 dividends on Class B-2 activity-based capital stock and Class B-1 non-activity-based stock at annualized rates of 9% and 4%, respectively.

Public Announcements FHLBank Indianapolis announces 2024 Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Citizenship Award winner As part of Black History Month observances, FHLBank Indianapolis has named Sr. Software Developer Jenny Ferree as the Bank's 2024 recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Citizenship Award. Since 2001, the Bank has honored one outstanding employee who best represents King's ideals.
