Community Investments: 2020 Program Updates

On March 23, 2020, the Community Investments Program published Bulletin 2005: 2020 Community Investment Program Updates, which provided information that would have been shared at the 2020 Community Investments Workshops.

Affordable Housing Program (AHP)
2020 Allocation Amount: $11.1 million

AHP Application Training Webinars for the 2020 funding round will take place on Tuesday, April 21 and Thursday, April 23. These will be live, recorded webinars. Topics covered will include scoring and threshold requirements, member/sponsor responsibilities, using the AHP Secure Portal, and much more. Registration links and information will be posted to our website prior to the end of March. 

Technical Reviews are scheduled for July 7 – 10 in Indianapolis and July 14 – 16 in Okemos, MI. These are one-hour, face-to-face meetings where AHP staff discusses your application and answers any questions you may have. Registration information is included in the pre-application which was posted on the FHLBank Indianapolis website on March 13.

Technical Assistance on Demand meetings to discuss your proposed project may be requested at any time from now until final applications are due July 31. Just complete and submit the Training on Demand form found on our website.

Homeownership Initiatives HOP/NIP/AMP
2020 Allocation Amount: $5.9 million

Webinars reviewing each of the programs will be posted to our website very soon. The program opening date is yet to be determined and will be announced on our website as well as through an email sent to registered Members. To register for the programs, Members must complete the 2020 Master Agreement and Registration-Certification forms.

The demonstration of the new online system for HOP, NIP, and AMP, called FHLBI.GIVES, will now be presented through a webinar. Only Members who register to become users of the system will receive direct invitations to participate in the webinar. A recorded version will then be placed on our website for additional viewing. 


Elevate Small Business Grant

*With the current situation affecting the economic health of our communities, some Elevate features may be changed prior to rolling out the program on April 1st. Please be on the lookout for announcements on our website.

This year we are providing details of the scoring categories for the Elevate grant. You can find them in the PowerPoint presentation below and in the Program Guide, which will be posted to the website by March 31, 2020. Additionally, the application due date has been moved to June 1, 2020 with award announcements made July 15, 2020. The program guide, application, and additional materials will be posted by April 1, 2020 at www.fhlbi.com/elevate .

Community Mentors Program

We are excited to announce a new program offering! FHLBank Indianapolis Members or Community Partners are invited to apply to host a one-day convening where community development experts share best practices to open dialogue amongst community leaders in addressing local community development challenges. Two communities will be selected to host an event in 2021 (one in Indiana and Michigan each) along with being awarded a $10,000 implementation grant. More details about the program will be posted in June 2020.
