    Ash & Elm Cider Co. is a family-owned cidery and café in Indianapolis, Indiana that works with farmers to source local ingredients from family-owned orchards for their ciders. In 2020, the business received an Elevate small business grant with the help of FHLBank Indianapolis member Merchants Bank of Indiana. The grant funding was used to purchase new equipment for faster production, less labor, and to provide outdoor service.

    Ihana Jewelry and Artisan Gifts, a brick and mortar store for designer and owner Rachel Lamson, serves as both a shop and an artists’ studio in Baraga, Michigan. The store features handcrafted jewelry made in-store by Rachel and other local artists’ work. In 2020, Ihana Jewelry and Artisan Gifts received an Elevate small Business grant through FHLBank Indianapolis member Lake Superior Community Development Corp.

    n Northern Michigan, a need for accessible and personalized mental health services is at an all-time high. Thanks to an Elevate small business grant, received through FHLBank Indianapolis member Lake Osceola State Bank, Family Supportive Services of Northern Michigan (FSSNM) in Cadillac, Michigan has been able to meet this challenge in their community.   • Detroit Cycling Studio uses Elevate Small Business Grant to Expand Offerings

    Last year, FHLBank Indianapolis awarded an Elevate small business grant to Detroit Cycling Studio in Detroit, Michigan through member financial institution First Independence Bank. Despite the COVID-19 pandemic, Detroit Cycling Studio was able to pivot to a virtual online platform with the help of the Elevate Grant. The small business purchased 50 custom branded indoor cycling bikes for their clients to rent and use in their own homes and saw an increase in memberships.

  • Marquette County Community Mentors Workshop

    In April, FHLBank Indianapolis facilitated the first 2021 Community Mentors workshop with the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development (CUPPAD) Regional Commission, Lake Superior Community Partnership, and Range Bank. ​ The workshop helped organizations in Marquette County, Michigan kickstart the process of developing an economic resiliency strategy to utilize a $400,000 grant from the US Economic Development Administration that will impact six Upper Peninsula counties. Last year, the Central Upper Peninsula Planning and Development (CUPPAD) Regional Commission received the grant and selected Marquette County as the pilot county for the grant’s implementation.

    On April 12, 2021, New Hope for Families broke ground on their newest facility in Bloomington, IN to increase shelter capacity from seven to 12 families and expand childcare from 16 to 48 children. Last year, FHLBank Indianapolis awarded New Hope a $500,000 Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant with the help of member Jackson County Bank to assist in funding the new construction.
