As Black History Month comes to a close, FHLBank Indianapolis is proud to announce Manager of IT Software Delivery Renita Skinner as the 2023 recipient of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Citizenship Award.

Since 2001, the Bank has honored one outstanding employee who best represents King’s ideals and commitment to community service. Nominated by their peers, award winners receive a plaque and a $1,500 donation to a charity of their choice.

In presenting the award in front of dozens of colleagues at the Bank's Indianapolis headquarters, President and CEO Cindy Konich praised Skinner for her selfless volunteerism inside and outside of the Bank.

"Her dedication to helping others and encouraging those around her to do what they can for their communities truly emulates Dr. King’s devotion to service," Konich said about Skinner.

A nearly 10-year veteran of the Bank, Skinner is heavily involved in multiple charitable and philanthropic initiatives and groups at the Bank, including the CARE Committee, Love Your Community, GEM Awards Committee, Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Council, among others. In addition, Skinner is an ardent supporter of Habitat for Humanity through Bank-sponsored construction and rehabilitation projects.

Skinner chose Resources of Hope, Inc. as her charity of choice to receive the Bank’s $1,500 donation. The group is dedicated to providing resources to meet the physical and emotional needs of foster youth living in Central Indiana through training programs, clothing procurement and distribution and teen-mentor activities.
