Underwriting Affordable Housing
The Affordable Housing Program (AHP) grant can provide necessary gap financing to a wide variety of project types that include multi-family apartments, senior living, permanent supportive housing, transitional housing, supportive housing for children, persons with disabilities and more. Each of these project types have unique challenges when layering different financing into a project.
That’s why FHLBank Indianapolis hosted two Underwriting Affordable Housing Workshops, depending on the project type.
In the recorded workshops below, we walk through the changes in a proposed housing development finance structure as affordable restrictions are layered into the funding source stack. We also discuss how to complete affordable housing projects with or without Low Income Housing Tax Credits (LIHTC). Whether you are a financial institution submitting an AHP grant for a housing partner or you are an affordable housing developer/consultant, you should be confident in preparing for the underwriting portion of the funding process.
