OUR Commitment TO Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

FHLBank Indianapolis is committed to diversity, equity and inclusion at all levels of the organization, from the employees we hire and promote to the programs, institutions, and businesses we support.

Our mission: Attract and maintain a diverse workforce. We value the individual skills, talents, ideas, viewpoints, and experiences that help us all gain a broader perspective on our industry and our world. We build relationships with businesses that reflect the diversity of the communities we serve because we know from experience this contributes to fostering healthy, dynamic communities.

In 2016, we established a Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI) Council to look closer at specific diversity needs and goals and create a strategic plan for our organization to focus on our culture, recruitment and hiring, internal management, vendor management, and more. The DEI Council is made up of a cross-section of employees representing all departments.

Our mission also is supported by several employee-driven committees, including the CARE Committee (Committed And Responsive Employees) for external charitable and philanthropic initiatives; Live Well for mental health and physical well-being of our employees; Cultural Ambassadors; and our Employee Resource Groups.

Equal Employment Opportunity

The Federal Home Loan Bank of Indianapolis is committed to equal opportunity and will promote diversity through all business activities including employment, management, procurement, and contracting. FHLBI will conduct its policies and practices in a manner that treats each applicant, employee and contractor fairly on the basis of merit, experience, and other work-related criteria without regard to race, color, religion, national origin, sex, age, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, veteran's status, or mental or physical disability, in accordance with federal law. Reasonable Accommodation of Disabilities

The Bank does not discriminate on the basis of disability as defined by applicable law. The Bank attempts to reasonably accommodate the known disability of an employee or an applicant for employment where such person requests a reasonable accommodation and the accommodation would not constitute an undue hardship to the Bank's business.

Contact Human Resources with any requests for accommodation.

Equal Opportunity Complaint Procedure

The Bank’s process provides for an immediate, thorough, and objective investigation of any claim of harassment or discrimination. Appropriate disciplinary action will be taken against any employee found to have engaged in harassment or discrimination.

Any employee who believes that he/she has been harassed, discriminated against, or retaliated against on the job, or who is aware of such conduct toward others, should provide a written or verbal complaint to his/her manager/supervisor, the Chief Internal Audit Officer, one of the Ethics Officers, or anonymously through Ethics Point, the Bank’s ethics hotline/site.

An applicant or contractor who believes he/she has been harassed, discriminated against, or retaliated against, or who is aware of such conduct toward others, should report the incident to the Office of Minority and Women Inclusion. A written complaint can be sent to the following email: OMWI@fhlbi.com. The complaint should be as detailed as possible, including the names of the individuals involved, the names of any witnesses, direct quotations when language is relevant, or any documented evidence.

The Bank will immediately begin an investigation of all allegations of discrimination and/or retaliation. To the extent possible, all complaints will be kept confidential.

The Bank strictly prohibits retaliation or reprisal for reporting alleged discrimination or retaliation, or for providing information or cooperating in any investigation of alleged discrimination or retaliation. Retaliation is itself a violation of this policy. Any persons engaged in such reprisal or retaliation will be subject to disciplinary action.
