Becoming a Member

Getting started with FHLBank Indianapolis.

FHLBI offers a reliable, cost effective, and flexible source of wholesale funding for its financial institution members in Indiana and Michigan.

Access to liquidity and flexible low-cost funding are the primary benefits of membership, but our members also have access to a competitive Mortgage Purchase Program, correspondent banking services, grant money for housing initiatives through our Affordable Housing Program, and at-cost advances for housing and economic development through our Community Investment Program.

FHLBI membership is open to regulated financial institutions (commercial banks, thrifts, credit unions, insurance companies, and CDFIs) having a principal place of business in the states of Indiana or Michigan.

To become a member, an institution must:

  1. Gain approval of membership from its Board of Directors.
  2. Complete and submit the appropriate membership application. Select from the following:
  3. Receive approval from FHLBI.
  4. Purchase initial FHLBI membership stock per our Capital Plan.
